There are days when life whispers so gently…
only a quiet heart can hear it.
That morning, I began as I often do in prayer.
Not asking for anything grand,
only this:
May small joys find me more easily today.
There are days when I also choose a number, mine is 18
and I carry it with me like a quiet thread of curiosity,
wondering how often it will appear.
Not as proof…
but as a conversation with life itself.
And somehow…
life always responds.
It began with something so small.
A soft melody from the kettle
as the water reached its warmth.
A simple tune…like a lullaby.
And I smiled.
In that moment,
joy did not need to be found,
it revealed itself.
Later, I opened my phone,
and a gentle voice appeared.
A teacher… calm, compassionate…
speaking words that felt as though they were meant only for me:
Be kind to yourself.
Let the past rest.
A soul like yours will be met with tenderness.
And tears came.
Not from sorrow but from being seen.
Before breakfast, a song played—
Because You Loved Me.
And beneath it,
a stranger’s words to her father:
I am everything I am because you loved me.
Every morning,
I speak to my own father.
And in that moment,
love traveled across time.
Before lunch, I played Abide with Me,
and as it ended,
the very music I had quietly wished for
began to play…
without searching.
And something within me knew—
Life was not silent.
It was responding.
But not because it had suddenly changed…
Because I had.
Because the heart, once guarded,
had softened.
And in that softening,
everything became visible.
A neighbor’s words.
A mother’s quiet admiration.
A message of appreciation from afar.
Different voices…
yet the same essence.
As if love itself
was speaking through many forms.
That day, I saw the number 18
again and again—
five times in total.
A gentle reminder…
Not that life is predictable,
but that it is intimately aware.
I have come to see this truth:
There is no randomness
in a life that is fully felt.
We do not need more signs.
We need more presence.
Because love, joy, and quiet miracles
are not rare.
They are always here.
Waiting…
not to be created,
but to be noticed.
And perhaps that is the invitation:
To soften.
To listen.
To return.
Because when the heart softens…
Life begins to speak.
With love and gratitude,
Sandy
